Therapeutic Educational Advocacy Services

SUPPORTING YOUR CHILD IN ACCESSING SERVICES TO THRIVE AT SCHOOL

Why work with a Therapeutic Educational Advocate?

A standard educational advocate focuses on academic accommodations and basic behavioral plans.  They are often former special educational teachers or behavioral consultants who have retired from working directly for the school system. They understand the school system, but may not have the background to grasp a complex case.

Therapeutic educational advocates focus on cases where a student’s mental health, trauma, neurodivergence, or behavioral diagnoses actively interfere with their ability to learn. These services are typically utilized for students experiencing school refusal, severe anxiety or depression, ADHD, trauma/PTSD, autism, or emotional dysregulation.  It is also used for students that have behavioral concerns in combination with academic needs.

A therapeutic educational advocate completely changes how an IEP (Individualized Education Program) is built by getting the school to treat mental health and emotional triggers with the same legal weight as academic struggles. They turn clinical diagnoses into enforceable school accommodations, ensuring your student is supported rather than penalized for their mental health.  A therapeutic educational advocate also acts as a parent support, empowering families to confidently navigate the special education process, understand their rights, and effectively participate in the IEP process.
